Peter Senez is an active participant in the fire industry since 1988, He has positioned himself as a leader in fire protection engineering and performance-based design in Canada, the US, and internationally. He is actively involved in numerous projects across Ontario and throughout Canada, and leads a team of approximately 50 people at SenezCo in Canada, the US and France. He is also a sessional lecturer at the University of Waterloo and has recently completed research work on escape times in ventilation-limited fires in houses.

Peter is Chair of the National Model Code Committee on Fire and Life Safety for the 2030 cycle of the codes. He is a Governor and Chair of the Board for the SFPE Educational & Scientific Foundation, a Corporate Board member of RDH Building Science, and an alternate to the Chair of NFPA 130, Standard on Fixed Guideway Transit and Passenger Rail Systems.

He has contributed to the design and delivery of major projects across the North of England, including the 64,000 sqm Pilgrim’s Quarter development for HMRC in Newcastle, the sensitive transformation of the Grade II* listed India Buildings in Liverpool, and Aviva Studios in Manchester.

With experience spanning residential, healthcare and education sectors, Dan brings a broad perspective to his work, with a strong focus on people-centred design and collaborative project leadership.

Julie Garcia is Vice President of Preconstruction for McCarthy Building Companies’ Southwest Region, where she oversees preconstruction, estimating, and design phase services across one of the country’s most active commercial construction markets. With more than two decades of experience, Julie has led preconstruction on some of the Southwest’s most complex higher education, healthcare, and commercial projects, including the University of Arizona Health Sciences Innovation Building, Valleywise Health Medical Center, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and UC San Diego’s Jacobs Medical Center, and now helps guide her McCarthy team’s preconstruction work on the ASU Health headquarters. She brings cost certainty to projects early when the biggest decisions, including envelope and façade systems, are still on the table. A problem-solver at heart, Julie thrives on collaboration, leveraging McCarthy’s in-house subject matter experts, self-perform capabilities, and extensive estimating tools to align owners, designers, and trade partners around shared outcomes. She remains an active connector within Arizona’s design and construction community, as well as helping the next generation of builders grow. An ASU Honors College graduate and passionate mentor to the next generation of builders, Julie is based in Phoenix, where she and her husband raise their four kids.
