Principal, Batley Partners
Edmund Batley is a South African/ British architect and is the Principal of Batley Partners International. He has been the lead architect and head of professional construction teams for many large scale projects in South East Asia, the Middle East, Africa as well as South Africa. Amongst these are international projects such as Pluit Megamall in Jakarta, Regents Heights High Rise residential complex in Singapore, Monte casino Entertainment World in Johannesburg and Al Khayma Shopping Centre in Riyadh and Red Sea Mall in Jeddah. As Batley Partners he has completed the 55 storey Headquarters Business Park, in Jeddah, as well as the re-contemporized Eastgate Shopping Centre and Mixed Use precinct in Johannesburg.
During the execution of these projects, he has worked with multi-national companies from vastly differing cultures, languages and religions, representing various clients and global funds. Starting his own design consultancy business in 2005 on account of a “wake up call” after experiencing the Asian tsunami in December 2004, Edmund continues to practice internationally and focuses on unique urban projects that fuel his passion for forward-thinking built environments for modern, emerging societies.
