Partner, Renzo Piano Building Workshop
Graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture in 2006, Albert Giralt has collaborated with leading architectural practices in Barcelona, London and Paris. He joined the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in 2009. Since then, he has worked on many significant international projects, including the renovation of Martyrs’ Square in Beirut, the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay in France, and Shard Place, a residential high-rise building in The London Bridge Quarter, next to The Shard and the News Building. He is currently leading the design of Tokio Marine’s new headquarters in Tokyo’s financial district, a 120,000 m² scheme which uses structural wood on an unprecedented scale in terms of both quantity and size, to minimize the carbon footprint of the building. He is also leading the transformation of the Montparnasse Shopping Mall, in the centre of Paris, into a 105,000m² vibrant mixed-use urban development aimed at radically improving the public realm around Gare de Montparnasse, one of the city’s main train stations. Albert became a Partner in June 2021.
