Alev Akın

Ms. Akın graduated from Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul Technical University in 1994 and got her master degree in 1996 from the same university. Her career which had started as an asisstant researcher in a TUBITAK (Turkish Research Institute) Project, continued as team member and/or as coordinator in various construction projects. Between 2001-2005 she worked as the General Manager of the local distributor of Herman Miller Inc., with which she had also been the leader of “GSA” projects in Turkey. Ms. Akın got her PMP degree in 2005 and established their project management company İŞTE Proje Yönetimi together with her partner, Mrs. Gül Erkmen (architect,ms).

Ms. Akın is in Turkish market personally for 30 years and with her team for the last 18 years for increasing value and human factor of construction.

Apart from her professional career; between 2006-2007 she served as a Board Member, between 2007-2009 as General Secretary and for 2010-2011 President of İstanbul Project Management Association (IPYD).

In 2019, she had been one of ten participants for Women Entrepreneur Leaders Programme held annually by EY. Between May 2019 – May 2024, she served as a Board member for KAGİDER (Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey), in order to support women entrepreneurship which has a strong impact on reversing the trends of gender inequality and women’s economic exclusion. She is currently a Board Member of SES Equality and Solidarity Association for which she had been one of the ambassadors of ‘Women’s Voice’ project in 2020 to support the effective use of social media for women to raise their equality and rights claims.
