Maha Shalaby

Architect & Environmental Designer, White Arkitekter

Maha is an architect and a sustainability specialist with 13 years of experience in practice, research, and teaching that is currently based in Stockholm, Sweden. She has more than eight years of experience working as a sustainability specialist in architectural projects focusing on different types of simulations including daylight, energy, wind, LCA in addition to others. She also worked as a sustainability strategist in projects focusing on different topics including EU taxonomy, LEED, WELL and BREEAM certifications, resilience, climate impact as well as circular architecture. With a broad focus on sustainability, her passion lies in the interdisciplinary and holistic integration of sustainability in projects, including social and economic sustainability. In addition, she has a strong connection with research, as she recently published a book, ‘sustainable lighting design’, about the interdisciplinary integration of daylight and electric lighting design in practice and has a podcast about the same topic. Lastly, she received a grant in December 2022 to lead a project for developing short animation videos about integrating daylight and electric light in buildings.
