Austen is a Forensic Architect conducting investigations in relation to defective design and workmanship.
He is a Chartered Architect, Chartered Construction Manager, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Practising Associate of the Academy of Experts. Austen has over twenty years’ worth of experience working projects in Europe, the Middle East, East Asia and Australia. He has been responsible for the delivery of projects of various scale and complexity. Austen has a wealth of experience working on all stages of projects.
Austen has been the named expert for ICC and DIAC arbitrations, civil proceedings in Scotland and England, and the DIFC Courts in which he has testified and participated in witness conferencing. He has opined on issues related to cladding and facade issues, fire safety defects, glazing, condensation and water ingress, wall and floor tiling failures, collapsed ceilings as well as scope of work, design approvals and variations.
