Chiara is an accredited conservation architect with more than 20 years of experience in building conservation, failure investigations and diagnostic. Her focus is to find future-proof technical solutions that conjugate conservation and development of heritage buildings to allow their continued use and enjoyment.
Chiara’s experience is across a variety of building structures, construction techniques and materials, including historic, modern and contemporary building systems. During her professional practice, she has achieved competences in historical and archivist research, material testing,assessment and report of existing condition, determination of appropriate treatments and repairs, development of technical specifications and construction documents, including the application of sustainability principles to heritage and, in general, existing buildings.
Over the years she has developed skills in the investigation of failures of materials and construction systems, including traditional masonry defects, stone cladding and curtain walls defects, plasters and renders defects. Her experience includes investigation of defects caused by water ingress / condensation / moisture. She carries out condensation risk assessments, thermal and hygrothermal analysis to validate design and as an investigative tool to determine causes of damage.
