Founder&Director, Green Building Council of Uzbekistan
Temur Akhmedov is a LEED-accredited sustainability advisor with over 20 years of experience driving energy efficiency and green building innovation across the U.S. and Central Asia. He is the Founder of the Green Building Council of Uzbekistan (UzGBC) and a key advisor on New Tashkent, a flagship urban development for 2.5 million people, where he develops building standards and coordinates LEED, BREEAM, and EDGE certifications.
A defining aspect of Temur’s career is his pioneering work in behavior-based resource efficiency. In the U.S., he designed and launched Oklahoma’s “20×2020” program, the first statewide initiative of its kind, targeting $100 million in energy savings across 5,000+ state buildings by applying behavioral economics and social marketing. He later brought this approach to Uzbekistan, launching the Green Schools program, which engaged over 8,000 students and 200 teachers across 50 public schools to foster a culture of sustainability.
Temur’s expertise spans performance contracting, renewable energy, and policy advisory. He has advised on landmark projects like Uzbekistan’s first BREEAM-certified office buildings and supported NYC’s ambitious climate laws. His work is rooted in the conviction that lasting change requires engaging hearts and minds, not just upgrading technology. Currently serving on the Public Council under Uzbekistan’s National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, he continues to shape policy and practice, building a more resilient and sustainable future.
