Dr Sylvain DESANGHERE has been working in the development of fire engineering in France since the early 2000s. He graduated from Ecole Centrale de Lyon as a generalist engineer and he holds a PhD in fire engineering, focusing on externally venting flames. His technical expertise covers the physics of fire, numerical modeling and fire experimentation (laboratory and on site). He is specialized in ventilation and smoke extraction in different types of buildings (tunnels, public buildings, industrial buildings, nuclear installations, etc.). He has participated in many fire research projects and he has written over 40 scientific papers or conference presentations about fire science and engineering. He is currently head of Ventilation and Fire team at Lombardi France and he is involved in fire safety engineering studies and smoke management systems design.
