Abdelouahed Mountassir

AWM was founded by Abdelouahed Mountassir, architect and urban planner, in 1983. The head office is located in Casablanca and realizes projects on a multi-countries scale.

Since then, the agency won a list of first prizes, among which the Meknes Railway Station (2013), Koweit Ambassy in Rabat (2013), Rabat?Ville Railway Station (2015), Benguerir Data Centre (2018). Its major works include the Oujda Railway Station, the National Library of Morocco (2001), Bab Al Bahr (2007 – Part of the Bouregreg Valley), Khouribga  Media Centre (2012), Istiqlal Party Headquarters (2010), Technopolis, Tangier Harbor Station (2017).

In regards to ongoing projects, AWM is busy achieving the planning and  development of the Bouregreg Valley (since 2005), the Rabat Railway Station (since 2016) as well as the “Grande Piscine de Rabat” (since 2017 – the largest  pool in Europe and Africa).

AWM was nominated for the Aga Khan prize in 2001 and won the Annual Best Architect prize in 2008 in Morocco.

The agency is now recognized as one of the most important in Morocco and Mountassir acted as the President of the National Architects’ order from 2014 to  2017. He already released five books on the relationship between Architecture and Poetry.
