Senior Associate Principal, SOM
Phil Obayda is a Senior Associate Principal at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and leads the Technical Design Group at the London office, heading up the design and delivery on a broad range of complex landmark projects in the UK and European markets, as well as in China and the Middle East. In addition to his extensive residential experience, which includes the delivery of over 3,000 units in London alone, he has also worked in the commercial, transport, hospitality and education sectors. His work is coupled with research into composite timber structural solutions and modular off-site prefabrication as key strategies for addressing the industry’s roadmap to net zero carbon. Phil is part of the LETI group advising strategies for specifying and procuring low carbon materials. He also sits on the RIBA Housing Expert Advisory Group reviewing practice and policy issues in the housing sector, particularly in relation to fire safety and sustainability.
