Dr Michael Spearpoint is the research leader at OFR consultants, having previously held the position of Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. He obtained a BSc (Hons) in Physics from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and his PhD from the University of Canterbury. He is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and a Chartered Engineer registered by the Engineering Council UK. He has been an author of almost 180 papers in international journals, conference proceedings and industry publications on a wide range of fire science and engineering topics.
