Principal - Lead Applied Research and Sustainability Engineer, AECOM

Adriaan, as both an engineer and economist by training, is a specialist in building physics, sustainable design, and economic appraisal of green building co-benefits with a focus on advocacy for pragmatic sustainable design.

He has a Master degree in Business Economics with specialist studies in valuation of natural and social capital, and analysis of sustainable return on investment (SROI) and social/environmental cost-benefit analysis and a research-based Master of Philosophy degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Adriaan has contributed his experience to a broad range of building and precinct projects. His main areas of interest and expertise are ecologically sustainable design (ESD), climate change science, science-based carbon reduction, risk mitigation and resilient design, and computational modelling regarding energy efficiency in buildings and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Adriaan also has experience with the WELL Building Standard with current applications including the new Suncorp head office at 80 Ann St, Brisbane for Mirvac Office Developments.

Adriaan is a Green Star Accredited Professional and also assesses a broad range of Green Star ratings for the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) in the role of a GBCA Appointed Green Star Certified Assessor.
