André Caiado

Principal and Founder, Contacto Atlântico

Founded in 1996 by architect André Caiado, Contacto Atlântico reflects a practice shaped by his vision of architecture as a balance between heritage, innovation and urban responsibility.

With offices in Lisbon and São Paulo, the studio operates as a multidisciplinary platform where architecture, engineering, interiors and landscape are developed within a single, coordinated process. Over three decades, this integrated approach has enabled the delivery of complex projects with precision, from concept through to construction.

His work is defined by a rigorous reading of context, where intervention becomes a continuation of place rather than rupture. This is evident in projects such as the rehabilitation of Diário de Notícias and the transformation of Quarteirão do Rossio, widely recognised for their impact on Lisbon’s urban fabric.

The studio has been awarded Atelier of the Year at the Prémios Construir and recognised with both the Prémio Nacional do Imobiliário and the Prémio Nacional de Reabilitação Urbana.

Contacto Atlântico continues to shape cities through architecture that balances precision, scale and long-term cultural value, reinforcing its position among Portugal’s leading architecture practices.
