Director | Global Timber Lead, Arup
Andrew Lawrence is Arup’s global timber specialist, Royal Academy of Engineering visiting professor in timber engineering at Cambridge University and lead author for the new edition of “Appraisal and Repair of Timber Structures”, published by the Institution of Civil Engineers. As well as timber, Andrew also specialises in the repair of existing and historic structures. He is a Conservation Accredited Engineer and a member of Historic England’s Historic Estate Conservation Committee. Andrew has worked on a wide range of timber projects including the Macallan Distillery, Cork House and Haut. He believes that we have a duty to improve the safety and sustainability of construction. This means not only finding safe and innovative ways to reuse more of our existing building stock, but also building new structures with more emphasis on adaptability, durability and embodied carbon.
