Founder and Director, SHAU

Daliana is a licensed architect, founder and director of SHAU -a multi-awarded architecture office based in the Netherlands, Germany and Indonesia – together with Prof. Dr. Florian Heinzelmann (NUS) and Tobias Hofmann. SHAU works on multiple scales and typologies with a cultural-environmental agenda aimed for more liveable cities. Several key projects of SHAU include a cultural center for a foundation in Jakarta, multi-ethnic student housing in Surabaya as a strategic national project, several large-scale public parks for West Java province, the ‘Microlibraries’ initiative aimed to increase reading interest for children in poor-income neighborhoods, and several projects for the New Capital of Indonesia. SHAU has received international awards including Archdaily building of the year award 2021, Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2019 shortlist, INDE.Awards 2018, Firm of the Year Award in Sustainable Architecture 2017 from the American Architecture Prize, and Silver prize from the Lafarge Holcim Award for Sustainable Construction Asia-Pacific 2017 among others. Daliana is listed as Architizer’s 100 Women to Watch in Architecture 2021 and Globe Asia’s 99 most inspiring women 2019, among other achievements. She has lectured and guest-reviewed at many universities including TU Delft, Harvard GSD, ETH Zurich and NUS.
