Managing Partner, Shigeru Ban Architects
Dean Maltz is an architect and Managing Partner of Shigeru Ban Architects America in New York. Friends since meeting as they were university students at The Cooper Union, his experience collaborating on projects with Shigeru spans more than 25 years. As a licensed architect in many states across the United States, his strong understanding of architectural history, structural systems, material finishes, and design details informs SBA’s work with a focus on quality of execution. In addition to HOUSE by Shigeru Ban, a 12-story, 320-unit condo biophilic-designed development in Miami’s Urban Buena Vista, his portfolio includes the Aspen Art Museum (2014), Cast Iron House (2021), Metal Shutter Houses (2010), and Sagaponack House (2006), among others. Many of his projects have received national and state AIA Awards. In 2024, both Dean and Shigeru were jointly honored by their alma mater for making a positive contribution to public service in architecture.
