In his 25 years in the MEP design industry, Eric is a regional expert in leading integrative design teams for high-rise office and residential mixed-use projects in Western Washington. As a principal at Rushing, he currently leads the technical design effort for the MEP, Energy, and Sustainability Studios as the Chief of Engineering. Eric’s wholistic approach to the design of the building envelope and MEP systems is tailored to meet each project’s goal for energy usage and carbon emissions. Additionally, these systems are optimized to meet the project occupant environmental and thermal comfort requirements to meet high-performance building design required for Class A office and high-end residential uses.
Representing mechanical engineers on the Washington State Building Code Council and Seattle Construction Codes Advisory Board has been deeply in the development of both the Washington and Seattle Energy Codes over the last 15 years. He has chaired code development meetings and authored many energy code proposals to increase both the enforceability and energy efficiency of some of the most stringent energy and carbon emissions codes in the United States.
