Ferry Smits is a building physics specialist with extensive expertise in the field. With a solid academic background from Eindhoven University of Technology (2000) and many years of experience from both architecture and consulting engineering firms, Ferry has become a recognized authority in the field. He has a master’s degree in Building technology / building physics and is dedicated to understanding and optimizing the physical performance of buildings, particularly targeting the building’s thermal skin.

Ferry’s broad knowledge includes thermal performance, air tightness and energy efficiency. He has led a number of successful projects with high environmental ambitions such as plus houses, re-use and zero emission projects. With a thorough understanding and innovative thinking, Ferry excels in optimizing buildings’ performance to achieve sustainability goals. In 2014, he won the Lambda prize for his efforts in passive house construction.
