Goonmeet is an architect, urbanist, author and a futurist with boundless enthusiasm to push the frontiers of possibility and bring forth ‘Newness’ that is both ‘Delightful’ and ‘Useful’ into everything he does. As the Founding partner at DFI, he believes in an architecture that is unshackled by ‘ism’s’; A contemporary, green architecture that belongs to its people and its place, where urban aesthetics, city skylines and streetscapes present a coherent contextual visual character that are delightful physical portraits of cultures and times.
Chauhan has worked on large-scale projects that have become landmarks across major cities pan India. He has contributed towards “Nation Building” process through public projects such as Vanijya Bhawan (New Delhi), Ministry of Commerce for the Government of India, NIT Delhi, New Integrated Terminal Building (Guwahati), Amritsar Railway Station, Multi-Modal Logistics and Transport Hub (Dadri), and the Cycle Walk in the National Capital.
A firm believer in “People First” approach to design, Goonmeet channels his creativity into providing innovative solutions for ‘Reforming of City Architecture’. Projects like ITO Skywalk in Delhi and Dakshineswar Skywalk in Kolkata stand testament to his skill for devising solutions that keep humans at its centre. He also supports the idea of ‘walkable cities’ and has played an instrumental role in designing Delhi Cycle Walk, a 140 km long corridor, dedicated for pedestrians and cyclists. He believes that such projects speak volume about a country which is ready to listen to the voices of the everyday man and is ready to create an infrastructure that caters to their needs.
