Gumji Kang is the Managing Director and an Architect at Snøhetta Australasia, leading the Melbourne studio with a focus on strategic clarity, design excellence, and long‑term client partnership. Her leadership is defined by an ability to guide complex, multidisciplinary projects from inception to delivery, aligning creative ambition with rigorous commercial understanding.

With a background spanning architectural design, urban strategy, and stakeholder advisory, Gumji works across sectors including cultural institutions, education, mixed‑use precincts, and large‑scale masterplanning. She plays a pivotal role in establishing Snøhetta’s Australasia presence, with contribution to major projects based in Melbourne such as Melbourne Park masterplan, Arts Centre Reimagining, Tea House Melbourne and significant cultural and public realm commissions across Australia.

Gumji’s approach foregrounds collaboration, both within the local studio and across Snøhetta’s global network, ensuring each project benefits from targeted international expertise while maintaining strong local accountability. She is committed to socially and environmentally responsive design, integrating evidence‑based sustainability strategies into every phase of project development. An active contributor to industry discourse, she has served as a Chapter Councillor with the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects, participated as an awards juror, and currently lectures in Architectural Design at the Melbourne School of Design.
