Hongkai Li received his Master of Architecture degree with distinction from the University of California Los Angeles, where he studied under Professor Greg Lynn on Mobile Buildings. He also holds a bachelor’s and Master of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture at Southeast University in Nanjing. Hongkai worked in several offices in the US, including SOM Chicago, CallisonRTKL Los Angeles, and COArchitects. His works have been featured in international venues, including the Venice Biennale, Helsinki Design Week, and Deutschland und China Gemeinsam in Bewegung. After returning to China in 2019, he started his practice and founded UDG.Studiowestwood, an avant-garde design lab to challenge all existing rules in the category of highrise, educational, and urban renovation. Now Studiowestwood has completed several projects, and received awards such as the Architizer A+Awards in the United States; the World Architecture Award for Best Completed Interior Work; the London Design Awards; the Reard Global Design Award, etc.
