Founder & Director, Hugh Dutton Associés
Born in the UK in 1957 and raised in Jamaica, Hugh Dutton is the principal of Hugh Dutton Associates (HDA), a Paris-based design practice founded in 1995 that merges architecture, engineering, and art specializing in glass and lightweight structures. Trained at the Architectural Association in London, Dutton began his career at RFR (1981–1992), working with Peter Rice and co-authoring Structural Glass on the pioneering La Villette facades. Building on his technical expertise, Dutton has collaborated with renowned architects contributing to their vision of transparency, form, and innovation—ranging from skylights and facades to bridges and complex geometries. HDA’s notable works include footbridges in China, the Climate Ribbon canopy in Miami, and contributions to heritage sites such as the Acropolis Museum, the Louvre, and Paris’s Hôtel de la Marine. He has also created artistic glass designs for Tiffany & Co. in New York, Milan, and beyond.
