Partner, Bjarke Ingels Group
Jakob Sand joined BIG in 2011. During his career, Jakob has worked in the field between conception and realization; as Partner-in-Charge at BIG he has won many competitions primarily in France, as well as Denmark, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Working in both Paris and Copenhagen for many years has given him an excellent knowledge of European culture and building practice. As Partner-in-Charge, Jakob has led cultural projects such as MÉCA Cultural Center, a cultural and arts education center in Bordeaux, and Galeries Lafayette, a transformation of a historic building to a new retail flagship store in Paris that recently opened to the public. Jakob has also developed large-scale competitions, including the Europa City Masterplan and Pont de Bondy, an iconic metro station, both in Paris, France. Prior to BIG, over the course of five years, he worked closely with Dominique Perrault on several prize-winning projects.
