James Christophidis

Senior Associate, Denton Corker Marshall

James Christophidis is a highly experienced façade architect with more than 25 years of specialist practice delivering technically complex and architecturally ambitious building envelopes across Australia and internationally. Trained at Bates Smart and now at Denton Corker Marshall, James has been the practice’s in‑house Façade Specialist for over 12 years, working at the intersection of design excellence and technical rigour.

His work is driven by a deep passion for façade design as both a cultural and environmental mediator—shaping identity, performance and experience. James’ approach balances sculptural clarity with high‑performance systems, material innovation and constructability, responding sensitively to climate, context and client ambition. Collaboration is central to his process, including engagement with Traditional Land Owners and Indigenous artists to embed cultural narratives into built form.

James has led large‑scale developments such as the North East Link West Package, where measured design plays a critical role in shaping urban character and delivering clear, compelling planning outcomes. His work demonstrates the value of strong architectural intent in navigating complex approval environments, gaining support from local councils, and state authorities. He has delivered projects from concept to construction across commercial, health, education, civic and infrastructure sectors, including St Vincent’s ACMD, University of Sydney Biomedical Accelerator, Twelve Apostles and Poombeeyt Koontapool Lookouts, and Matagarup Bridge, Perth.
