Associate Director, Elliott Wood

James, a structural engineer with 18 years of professional experience, is committed to improving the urban legacy we pass onto future generations through progressive design, and helping to move the construction industry towards a more balanced, more responsible future.

As an Associate Director at Elliott Wood, James leads their sustainable materials team and is an expert in the use of timber and rammed earth construction. He has delivered a wide range of award-winning projects, most notably the shortlisted RIBA Stirling prize, Bushey Cemetery. James is currently leading the design on Berkley Sq, a tall hybrid steel and exposed CLT framed commercial building that has achieved building control compliance without the need for large scale fire testing, a first in the UK since the start of 2020.

James enjoys the challenges of designing complex buildings and structures while minimising the impact they have on the planet.
