John Dobbin

Director, Shay Cleary Architects

John has gained a depth of experience both in Ireland and internationally as lead project architect and associate with a number of Dublin and London based practices on large scale commercial, civic and residential projects. John completed the Bachelor of Architecture degree with honours at University College Dublin in 2008. He began working in Dublin that year and joined Shay Cleary Architects, working on a high-spec low-energy office development in Dublin city centre and the new National Conference Centre Hotel Tower in the city docklands. As design team leader was shortlisted for the Europan-Europe architectural competition in 2009. In 2009 he relocated to London and commenced employment with Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands where he was the Lead Project Architect on the £250M Fitzroy Place masterplan and redevelopment project from competition winning scheme design through planning and to construction. The scheme was the recipient of the Best New Public Space Award at the London Planning Awards 2017. In 2017 John returned to Dublin to rejoin Shay Cleary Architects in a senior capacity. Since this time he has delivered successful planning applications for a major commercially led redevelopment of the Clanwilliam Court and Marine House complex, Dublin 2 for Hibernia REIT. He has also led the development of a High Density Modular Off Site Housing prototype which has been employed recently on a PRS / BTR development for Kennedy Wilson.
