Project Manager, Onyx Solar Energy
Juan Luis Lechón Hernández is a Senior Engineer at Onyx Solar, the Spanish manufacturer of building-integrated photovoltaic glass, where he has worked for more than fifteen years. He joined in 2010 as a project engineer and served as project manager on the photovoltaic double skylight at the Novartis Pharmaceuticals campus in New Jersey, an assembly of 820 large-format units designed to open for maintenance access.
He now works on the technical development of international façade projects from their earliest stages, alongside façade consultants, contractors and design teams, translating performance requirements into buildable envelope solutions. His work covers the architectural integration of photovoltaic technology across rear-ventilated cladding, curtain wall and skylight systems, and the coordination between the technical and commercial sides of an international façade project.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from TECNUN, with a year at RWTH Aachen University, and completed a master’s in Technological Façades and Sustainable Envelopes at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2026. He works in Spanish, English and Italian.
