Lauren Schmidt

Principal, KPF

The youngest woman in KPF’s history to be named Principal, Lauren is invaluable to projects of all types, coordinating with multiple stakeholders and consultants, overseeing projects through all phases.

Lauren has served as designer and manager for some of KPF’s most notable and complex New York City projects. Much of her work focuses on maximizing the potential of underutilized or outdated buildings through repositioning, contributing management expertise to adaptive reuse projects across the city. Lauren is currently at work on the modernization of 660 Fifth Avenue, which replaces the building’s previous cladding with a custom glass curtain wall. The new, mullion-free, floor-to-ceiling windows nearly triple the window area provided to the office space, maximizing daylight and views. The wall also fulfills ambitious sustainable design criteria, optimizing the performance of the building’s high-efficiency heating and air systems
