Prinicpal Architect, Madhav Joshi and Associates
Ar. Madhav Joshi was born in Wai, Maharashtra. Wai has long been a cultural center and is known in Maharashtra for its ghats on the banks of the Krishna River. Locally prominent families built several architecturally significant temples in Wai and hence the epithetic name ‘Dakshin Kashi’ (City of Temples).With initial schooling in Wai, Madhav Joshi graduated from Pune University and went on to study.
His works are published in premium architectural magazines such as Architect Builder, World Architecture, FUTURARC Singapore, Journals of IIA and Arch Daily International web portal on architecture. His work was also a part of the exhibition “The State of Architecture” at the National Gallery of Modern Arts, (NGMA) Mumbai.Apart from being an ardent Urban sketcher, he is a member of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Institute of Town Planners of India (ITPI), Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID), Institute of Valuers and Architects Engineers and Surveyors Association (AESA). A keen teacher, he is a regular on jury panels of many schools of architecture and has been on jury panel for IIID National Awards, BAI Pune Chapter Awards, IIA Kerala Architecture Awards; NASA design competitions, NIYASA thesis award, AESA Awards etc. He has delivered lectures and presented his works at the Achyut Kanvinde Memorial Lecture at BNCA, Pune City Planning at one of the premier institutes in India, The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
Having gained his master’s degree, Madhav Joshi initially worked as an urban planning consultant with CDSA (Centre for Development Studies and Activities) on projects funded by the World Bank, NHB, to name a few, in the field of urban management systems and urban planning research. Some of his notable works in and around Pune are The Business Bay and Ritz Carlton Hotel, a mixed use urban design project on airport road; The Heritage Residential School at Talegaon; Zostel a backpackers hostel in serene setting of Panchgani; Rohan Retreat Farm House; Courtyard Marriott Hotel and Office Complex at Hinjewadi; ICC Tech Park Tower A at SB Road; High Performance Computer Centre and Centre for Climate Change & Research at IITM Pashan; Scientists Housing at IITM Pune; just to name a few.
