Head of Sustainability, Bentel Associates
Marco Macagnano is an Associate Director and Head of Sustainability at Bentel Associates International, and Director of the Green Building Council of South Africa.
Bentel Associates International is a leading architectural, master planning and interior design consultancy with offices in Johannesburg and Mumbai. Bentel boasts a proud history of over 60 years in operation, responsible for numerous landmark projects throughout the country as well as a comprehensive project portfolio with the African continent within most sectors of the industry.
Marco has completed his PhD in Architecture with the University of Pretoria, proposing an integrated systems design-process and revised model for sustainable development in the information age.
With over 12 years of experience in most sectors of the industry and expertise in Building Information Modelling, Marco has lead projects of varying size and complexity in design and implementation, including: commercial, retail, residential, health care and hospitality projects, including the first green star rated building for the South African national department of public works.
