Morné Fourie

Executive Director - Design & Masterplanning, Roshn

Morné Fourie is an Artist and an Urban Designer with twenty-two years of experience in East Asia, the Middle East, and North America. He is a former cum laude architecture student and recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship and a Master’s graduate from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has led numerous commissions in the fields of master planning and architecture, specializing in new communities, urban renewal, and urban regeneration.

Morné is currently the Development Executive Director, Master Planning & Design of Roshn Real Estate, a Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) powered company. In his previous role, he was the Vice President of Design Management at Dubai Parks & Resorts in the United Arab Emirates. At DPR he lead the design and design management during the construction of 3 theme parks, a Marriott hotel and RD&E, as well as the concept design of four future parks and 6 hotels as part of the larger master plan developed by his office. He partook in the development of the Dubai 2020 master plan, working with the key players from the Dubai Government.

Morné, both nationally and internationally, addressed and chaired conferences and partook in & moderated panel discussions on design, planning, and architectural issues and also taught the urban planning Master’s degree course at Harriot Watt University. Prior to joining Meraas, he was the Director of Urban Design for AECOM in Abu Dhabi. In October 2006, after five years in China, he started the EDAW AECOM Middle East office. Morné travels extensively for his art, and has produced work during visits to more than 60 countries
