Director, Design Fire Consultants
Neal has 20+ years experience as a fire engineer. He was Technical Director for fire engineering at Buro Happold before moving to Arup where he was the Associate Director responsible for fire engineering skills strategy, development and training for a team of 70+ engineers. He is now a Director at Design Fire Consultants and has spent much of the last two years helping clients assess their buildings for adequacy following the tragic events at Grenfell.
Neal is a chartered engineer through the Institution of Fire Engineers and actively promotes development of competence and ethical practice of fire engineers through the institution. He represents the IFE on several committees including Construction Industry Council Working Group 3 on competence of fire engineers.
Neal has also been involved in code development, including updates to Approved Document B and several British Standards.
