Nick Horton

Director, Pacegrade

A Civil Engineering BEng graduate from Loughborough, Nick began working in the family joinery business as a stop gap in the early 90s – and never left!

Historically, Pacegrade has specialised in timber doors, windows and staircases for the residential market but is now recognised in the commercial sector for its extensive and specialist expertise in the design and manufacture of timber, aluminium and timber aluminium composite curtain wall, windows and doors.

Never shy of a challenge, Nick likes to push design boundaries to deliver for clients based on architectural intent.

It has led to an impressive portfolio of projects across the commercial, education, residential and heritage sectors, working with principal contractors including ISG, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon.

Pacegrade has won and been shortlisted for multiple Wood Awards, for projects such as Cambridge Central Mosque and Glaxosmithkline’s Sustainable Chemistry Building at the University of Nottingham.

The business has also been associated with RIBA regional and national award-winning buildings, which include the Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre and The Weston – Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which was also a finalist for the Stirling Prize.
