Paul Korthagen is the director and consulting engineer at IMd Raadgevende Ingenieurs and a registered Design Engineer with the Constructeursregister. He is a recognized expert in sustainable and circular construction, with extensive experience in complex urban projects, high-rise buildings, vibration-sensitive laboratories and verification processes. Paul recently applied his expertise to the donor structure of BioPartner 5 in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands’ first ‘Paris-proof’ building. His portfolio includes landmark projects such as the transformation of the FENIX warehouses in Rotterdam.
He oversees projects from initial concepts to final detailed drawings, collaborating closely with project leaders, engineers and drafters. His creative input ensures safe, efficient, and innovative structural solutions for both buildings and civil engineering projects. Sustainability, material efficiency and giving existing structures a second life are central to his work. With precision and expertise, Paul transforms ambitious architectural visions into reality. Alongside his professional practice, he is co-author of The Art of Structural Design and regularly contributes to the field through guest lectures and mentorship, sharing his expertise with the next generation of engineers.
