Senior Principal, Populous
Philip Johnson has an analytical and creative approach to architecture which enables him to focus on innovative yet appropriate solutions for any given design challenge. A versatile and skilled designer, he has a particular interest in the cultural significance of sports and entertainment buildings, how venues evolve, and how they can be integrated successfully into their environment. From a professional stand point, he is interested in how different clients make decisions about the procurement of the construction of their projects, and how they balance cost, programme and their perceptions of quality. His work at Populous includes leading the design of the redevelopment of Ascot Racecourse, the Olympic Stadium for London 2012 and its transformation into London Stadium, the Masterplan and new Warner Stand at Lord’s Cricket Ground, as well as the concept design for the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
