Robert Hopkins

Head of Sustainability and Director, AHR

Rob Hopkins, Head of Sustainability and Director at AHR, is focused on creating innovative spaces that enhance the health and wellbeing of occupants. Inspired by biophilic design, Rob led the creation of The Spine in Liverpool — a WELL Platinum accredited workplace recognised as one of the healthiest buildings in the world. Its distinctive Voronoi façade pattern helps create a dynamic internal environment while optimising occupant comfort and wellbeing.

Rob drives AHR’s sustainability strategy across the practice and has played a central role in developing the practice’s Zero Carbon Today Methodology and Retrofit Toolkit to support decarbonisation. His approach to sustainability extends beyond environmental performance to embrace long-term social and economic value. Most recently, he co-authored a trauma-informed design white paper with the University of Salford, outlining practical ways to embed this approach into the design process across all sectors, scales and budgets.
