Rodrigo Flores

Project Director, Sordo Madaleno

Rodrigo Flores is an architect from Tecnológico de Monterrey. He complemented his Architecture studies by attending specialized courses in Architectural Engineering during his international exchange at SungKyunKwan University, Seoul, South Korea in 2011. Rodrigo reinforced his skills in Project Management by undertaking a Diploma in Effective Project Management at the Universidad Panamericana in collaboration with PMI in Mexico City, and in Real Estate, with an online postgraduate course from MIT.

He joined Sordo Madaleno in January 2014 as Project Manager. His effective leadership, continuous drive for teamwork and high-quality, on-time results were key to recognizing Rodrigo as a Project Leader (now Architecture Director) at Sordo Madaleno in 2016. In this position he has directed projects on different scales and with a range of architectural programs including residential, commercial, hospitals, mixed-use developments, and masterplans. These projects include the Punto Mar Residential Complex in Acapulco, Torre Arbia in Bosques de Santa Fe, the winning proposal for the masterplan of SOHL project in Monterrey, and Masaryk 486, all of them under construction.

In recent years, Rodrigo has specialized in hospitality projects and large- scale masterplans, and has participated in several design competitions around the world with strong conceptual bases including the Competition for the New Mexico City International Airport, a new 160-hectare project in Riviera Maya, a mixed-use masterplan in Austin, Texas, a mixed-use complex in Bangkok, Thailand, a 150-key hotel in the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia, or the residental competitions in La Mexicana and Punta Mita with H5A project.

With the same drive and as another of his areas of interest, Rodrigo has supported the execution of SOMA’s real estate projects such as Park Hyatt Mexico City, Soho Farmhouse in New York or Soho House Valle de Bravo, leading the development, management and direction of such projects to the same level of delivery. He began his professional career with an internship in 2011 at JSa, and worked as Architect at Rojkind Arquitectos, from 2012 to 2013.
