Scott is a highly experienced Fire Safety Engineer with more than 30 years’ involvement in the field, encompassing academic research, university lecturing, and over 26 years in private practice. He has extensive expertise in the Building Code of Australia, particularly in the development and delivery of performance-based fire engineering solutions. Scott has also undertaken numerous inspections of existing buildings, providing practical and cost-effective upgrade recommendations to achieve fire safety outcomes aligned with current BCA requirements.
His consultancy experience spans a wide range of sectors, including high-rise office and residential buildings, major shopping centres, sports stadia, data and computer centres, hotels, residential accommodation, industrial facilities, and healthcare environments. Notably, he has been involved in complex healthcare projects such as hospitals, psychiatric facilities, juvenile justice centres, and disability services buildings.
Scott possesses strong technical capabilities in structural and stress analysis, heat transfer, and advanced fire modelling using both zone models and computational fluid dynamics. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and co-authored a technical text for the Victorian Building Control Commission. His background also includes fire resistance testing and assessment, supported by PhD research and experience as a National Association of Testing Authorities ( NATA) Signatory, demonstrating a consistent commitment to technical excellence and professional rigour.
