Sean Couzyn has extensive experience in the design and delivery of a diverse range of building projects in a variety of roles from architect to tenant coordinator to structural and facade engineer.
Sean graduated from The University of the Witwatersrand in 1995. The early years of his career were grounded in architectural practice with experience gained primarily in commercial building design and retail design. During this time Sean established a track record of technological innovation and was selected by Autodesk for Pilot Site status for the release of their Revit Suite of products in South Africa.
In July 2006 Sean joined Pure Consulting (Pty) Ltd to assist with the pursuit of 3D technology in the practice and to formalise architectural skills within the multi-disciplinary approach of the principals.
In his time at Pure Consulting, Sean fulfilled the roles of Structural Concept Engineer and Facade Specialist on several high profile commercial and retail projects completed across Johannesburg. In recent years, Sean focused on his role in the practice as a Building Envelope Specialist, providing both upfront expertise as a professional consultant, and specialist detail design work for facade contractors. Sean’s specialist interest in facades extends to an in-depth understanding of the energy performance of facades.
Sean was appponted as Director of Sutherland Engineers Nairobi in June 2015 in order to expand the practice’s Sub-Saharan multi-disciplinary offering including the provision of Façade Engineering services to the region.
