Director, Terra Viridis Sustainable Design Consultants

Swati Puchalapalli is a Sustainable Design Consultant with 20 years of experience in Sustainable habitat design, computational analysis, and environmental policy research.
She is a founder director at TerraViridis, a Sustainable Design Consultancy, and the director of Sustainability at VeraTatva, a collaborative engineering consultancy specializing in ultra high-performance design. She is a strong proponent of passive design as the first step towards sustainable design, constantly applying learnings from local vernacular and using state of the art simulation technologies to new buildings. TerraViridis works extensively with computer-based building analysis to help architects make informed design decisions to maximize energy efficiency, improve comfort, integrate sustainable water management practices, Waste engineering, etc.
 
TerraViridis works with several of the country’s leading architects and multi-nationals such as Infosys and Manipal Education and Medical Group helping them achieve best practice benchmark performances. Their iconic projects include the upcoming 1500 acre Government complex in Amaravati, High Court, and Legislative Assembly. In the area of policy, she had worked on developing the environmental building design guidelines and a road map for their implementation for the city of Hyderabad (for Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) along with TERI Prior to this, she worked at BDSP Partnership (London), a Sustainable engineering consultancy for 6 years where she worked with several international architects such as Rogers Stirk Harbour+Partners, Foster+Partners, Renzo Piano workshop, etc on iconic projects such as the National Welsh Assembly Building in Cardiff, GOGGS, London, Columbia University Masterplan, and Central Market in Abu Dhabi, etc.
 
She is a visiting faculty at CEPT Ahmedabad, Manipal Universities at Manipal and Jaipur, JNTU Hyderabad, RCEUS, Osmania University Hyderabad, TISS Hyderabad, etc. Swati has been associated with GRIHA for several years as a Founding Member as well as a TAC member. Swati is also on the informal advisory board for LEED India.
