Vice President, Thornton Tomasetti
Walter Hartnett joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2017 and leads Thornton Tomasetti’s East Region façade engineering practice. He brings more than 10 years of experience across multiple market sectors, and building types, in the design and analysis, and planning and implementation of facade systems in both new construction and adaptive reuse of existing buildings. As a structural engineer with an extensive background in façade engineering, forensic investigation and specialty structures, he offers expert guidance on building envelope technologies and how best to integrate them into high-performance, resilient, design-driven enclosures. Walter has lectured at the university level on construction design and delivery, and consulted on building codes and performance based-design standards for public agencies, including the General Services Administration and Department of Homeland Security. He received a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management from Columbia University.
