Stefan Rappold, born in 1966 in Stuttgart, finished an apprenticeship as a carpenter before studying architecture at the University of Stuttgart, where he obtained his diploma in 1995. He then worked in several practices including Behnisch & Partner before joining the Stuttgart office of Behnisch Architekten in 2000. Here, he was responsible for the design of the new WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) headquarters in Geneva. His most recent projects include the adidas Arena—the company’s headquarters in Herzogenrauch—the Sportbad Friedrichshafen aquatic sports center, and the Edge ElbSide office building in Hamburg’s HafenCity. In 2012, he became a partner in the Stuttgart office, which he runs together with Stefan Behnisch and Jörg Usinger. He is a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA).
