Joel Schwartz is a Principal in Building Science and President at JRS Engineering. With over 30 years of building science experience, Joel brings a depth of knowledge and expertise in high-performance, durable building envelope design. Joel’s robust portfolio includes extensive experience in new construction, façade, and fenestration engineering. His comprehensive background has made him a sought-after expert in litigation support, second opinions, and specialized technical consulting. Throughout his career, Joel has remained dedicated to the advancement of the industry. His contributions include serving as Chair of the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia’s Building Enclosure Committee and a member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia’s Building Envelope Committee. Additionally, Joel served as President of the British Columbia Building Envelope Council. Currently, he is a voting member of the Standing Committee on Environmental Separation (Part 5) for development of the 2025 National Building Code of Canada.
