Associate Professor - Department of Architecture, The American University in Cairo
Sherif Abdelmohsen is Associate Professor of Digital Media and Design Computing at the Department of Architecture in the American University in Cairo (AUC). He received his PhD degree in Architecture from Georgia Tech, USA (2011), and MSc (2004) and BSc (2000) in Architectural Engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt. Abdelmohsen has over 40 publications in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals and served on editorial boards for several international journals and research funding agencies. He was Principal Investigator and team member of several funded research projects totaling over $600,000. He supervised and examined over 25 MSc and PhD students, and participated in several public talks, international exhibitions, workshops, panel sessions, and design reviews in USA, Europe and the MENA region. He is also co-founder and managing partner at UDAAR, an international award-winning company specialized in architecture, computational design research, and smart building management solutions. Abdelmohsen is the honorary recipient of the Knowledge Application and Notion for Society (KANS) international scientific competition (2018), recipient of the Faculty Award of Merit for Best Doctoral Presentation (2012) and recipient of the ARCC/KING Medal for Excellence in Architectural and Environmental Design Research (2009).
