Johannes Schafelner

Johannes has delivered many successful products and installations alongside numerous architectural projects at ZHA. He was project director of the first ZHA project in New York; luxury residences on the Highline which was completed in 2018.

Other major projects include the design for the London 2012 Olympic Aquatic Centre and Roca Gallery London which were completed during his tenure as lead of the Zaha Hadid Design Cluster.

More recently Johannes has led the Songshan Lake Performance Centre in Dongguan which will be completed this year and several masterplans including the Aljada masterplan in Sharjah, UAE and Chengdu Unicorn Island in China, which is now close to completion.

Johannes became an EBT director and part of the first generation of EBT board in 2021, whose charge is to pursue the values that Dame Zaha Hadid engendered in her life. He has been invited as key note speaker to various events and also lectures and critique at some of the most prestigious design schools in the world and is currently teaching at the AA in London.
