Mercedes is a qualified architect and holds a master’s degree in façade engineering. She has fifteen years of work experience including ten years at the multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy firm Arup where she works as façade specialist. She has been involved in the design, engineering and construction supervision of numerous and varied high profile projects alongside some of the most prestigious architectural firms globally. She has project experience in the Middle East, UK, Mexico and Europe working on Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal Building, The Royal Atlantis in Dubai, BBVA Bancomer Tower in Mexico and Centro de Arte Botin in Spain. She is the learning manager in the building envelope skill network at Arup and a usual speaker in external conferences.
