Director of Sustainability, BIG
Tore Banke is Director of Sustainability at BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group and is responsible for developing and executing the Sustainability strategies at BIG CPH. Leading a group of interdisciplinary specialists (Architects, engineers, researchers, and computational designers), Tore and his team named ´BIG Sustainability´ assist the many design teams at BIG (CPH, NYC, LON, BCN) on projects globally. BIG Sustainability conducts a wide range of performance & environmental analysis (including daylight, energy, outdoor comfort, indoor climate, wind, rain, snow, water flow etc.) as well as LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), material research and a broad range of global sustainability certification systems and guidelines (e.g., DGNB, BREEAM, LEED, Miljöbyggnad, WELL & China Three star). Tore has had an important role to a number of BIG’s key projects, such as Google HQ, Mars City, Hopkins Student Center, The Plus, Oppo R&D HQ, and Toyota Woven City. Tore holds a PhD in Computational Design and building performance analysis and have through his career been involved in many research and teaching activities.
