Ziad is a highly diverse practicing expert and academic in architecture and urban design, planning and community development at local, regional and national scales. He worked for local and international consultancies, government entities and academic institutions with a proven track record in delivering Vision 2030 transformation projects in KSA, in implementing governance processes for successful projects delivery, in merging local and global cultures and in leading at the frontier of knowledge.
Currently, Ziad is leading urban architectural strategic, masterplanning, development and design activities for Al-Balad and Waterfront regeneration plan at Jeddah Historic District Program (JHD). He was Head of Planning & Urban Design at New Jeddah Downtown (NJD) led urban and architectural design activities for the Concept Master Plan. He was an Assistant Professor in Architecture at both Effat and Dar Al-Hekma Universities and a Director of Master of Architecture Program at the latter. Prior to this, he was an Assistant Deputy Minister for Regional Development at the Ministry of Economy and Planning leading socio-economic assessment of the 13 regions in KSA. At AECOM, he was a Regional Director for Design, Planning and Economics, where he led business line development and operation while engaged in delivering Jeddah Governorate 2033 Strategic, Sub-Regional, Structure and Local Plans with Jeddah Municipality.
