John Runkle, PE, is Vice President of ABB’s Forensic Division and Senior Principal with more than 26 years of experience in building enclosure consulting, forensic investigation, commissioning, field performance testing, and resiliency consulting. His expertise includes façade and curtain wall systems, glazing and fenestration, roofing and waterproofing, air barriers, building enclosure commissioning, and high-performance building design.
Throughout his career, John has led investigations into water intrusion, storm damage, façade performance, roofing failures, and construction defects, combining forensic analysis with practical strategies to improve building performance and resilience. He has presented at more than 100 industry conferences, seminars, and technical forums, including events hosted by BCxA, ASTM, IIBEC, FGIA, NIBS, and CSI. His project experience spans commercial high-rises, healthcare, aviation, education, government, hospitality, mixed-use, and mission-critical facilities.
